Bogdan Zholdak

Bogdan Zholdak (Богда́н Жолда́к, 1948) is a writer, playwright and screenplay writer.  Critics describe the genre of his works as urban folk miniatures where the narrator is the so-called "homo sovieticus". The language of his works is highly aphoristic. The writer has succeeded in his linguistic experiments with using surzhik. This linguistic hybrid turned out to be a decreasing factor for official language and at the same time a certain discovery for postmodernism. His most famous books include "Like a Dog Under a Tank” (Як собака під танк, 1994), “Anticlimax” (Антиклімакс, 2001) and “The Hot Arctic” (Гаряча Арктика, 2010).

Bogdan Zholdak «Tricky slippers»
Ivan Franco has once retold a surprising and full of adventures east story about Abu-Kasimov’s slippers that cause quite a lot of problems to their owner. Eventually they brought him in his grave. However after his death Abu-Kasim was declared a saint.
Do you think on this story ends? Oh, no! It appears that afterwards those ill-fated slippers wound up in Ukraine. And here they also cause a lot of trouble. Find out what happends in the new adventure story of a well-known modern Ukrainian writer Bogdan Zholdak.

"Bogdan Zholdak" once glimpsed his own death on a TV screen. Now he can't stop watching. While he watches he scribbles things blindly into big blue notebooks that are collected every Wednesday by an unnamed editor and sent unread to Underground Books headquarter in Harlem, NYC. where they are turned into tarot readings and get-well-soon cards.
Picture and some his ideas you can on the page :http://www.kitefullofwhiskey.com/bogdan-zholdak.html

The kitchen poet

1
Tender mire
Squishes squishes
And we will put white deserts to a place
Where no dew will ever fall
Beyond the spare
There will be the delight
For those who do believe in waterfalls

2
Man uses thinker
When he talks clapper
And on the paper then – by quill
And nothing to reason above.

3
No matter if it’s boiled
It’s only hey for me
Hey for those who haven’t changed
Their trust
As before and as for now
It’s only a few
On Tuesday – fortytime
In the midst of Wednesday
Up until Thursday
By four on Saturday
Until the hoarseness
On Sunday weedramus
To begin Monsunday

4
Father, you’ve hovered
When me in jail, I turn striped
Through the window of surd
Father, you’ve know the ideals
Me, not befallen, I take the needle
Moisten it
And tattoo embroidery on my chest

5
‘till death – on the TV
I turn myself
Non-stop
Begger begs
For the lucid glory
Kyiv looks at it

6
Learn to look
At Taras higher
Take fatty to the house
To the heavens stubbles
Roof gigantic poetic

7
Lukash loved cards
But not defeat
He mumbled flatly:
Fatal card of diamonds

8
Where’ve you been?
The ravage burns in your eyes
It lights not me
In place where sight burns in the sleep
Where it flows
As coffee flows
Into the vision
Forbidden for us

9
You bought the ink
You ink the pen
No foam no water
Can wipe
This unsweet blot
You can’t just rub it with the sand
You pick the sorrow
And bring this merry throttle song
As wages of your hard job
